American employees deemed two mortgage lending companies, a certified public accountant firm, a staffing business, and a general insurance company the top five places to work in the United States this year.
The rankings are the result of a fifth-annual national survey co-sponsored by Energage and USA TODAY.
Each year, Top Workplaces USA awards and recognizes midsize and large organizations with at least 150 employees, including those with operations in multiple markets. The 2025 survey included employees from 2,251 companies.
Employee feedback alone informs the rankings. Winning companies were chosen based on the results of surveys taken throughout 2024.
The companies survey respondents chose as the best places to work overall are:
-
Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp., a mortgage lending company based in Madison, Wisconsin.
-
Plante Moran, a certified public accountants and consultants firm in Southfield, Michigan.
-
Fannie Mae, a mortgage lending company based in Washington, DC.
-
CHG Healthcare, a staffing company in Midvale, Utah.
-
Progressive Insurance, a general insurance company based in Mayfield Village, Ohio.
Fairway Independent Mortgage Corp. and Plante Moran maintained their places from last year’s ranking, in which they also finished first and second respectively.
The survey results also identified winners in four categories: companies with 2,500-plus employees, companies with 1,000 to 2,499 employees, companies with 500 to 999 employees, and companies with fewer than 499 employees. Energage ranks the top 100 employers in each of these categories and then lists the remaining winners in alphabetical order.
Energage invited more than 39,000 employers nationwide to participate. Of them, 2,251 followed through with an employee engagement survey. Based on the results, 1,526 companies received recognition.
“A Top Workplace award brings a company’s culture to the national stage and it helps them differentiate themselves in a fiercely competitive market space,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “It’s an honor for the workforce and an effective tool to attract the right talent to an organization.”
