WOODBRIDGE, Va., May 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Prince William County has lost one of its most influential and beloved business leaders. Demetrios “Dimitri” Boosalis, founder of Boosalis Properties and a pillar of the local community, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of entrepreneurship, compassion, and unwavering support for small businesses.
Dimitri’s life embodied the American Dream. Born in the small Spartan village of Niata, Greece, he arrived in the U.S. with just $20 in his pocket, no English, and only a sixth-grade education. From those humble beginnings, he built one of the largest independent commercial real estate companies in Woodbridge, Virginia. But for Dimitri, success was never just about financial gain—it was about building lasting relationships and supporting his community. Many tenants have remained with Boosalis Properties for over 40 years.
In the 1970s, ’80s, and ’90s, Dimitri became a well-known figure in the restaurant and hospitality scene (Georgetown Station, Demetri’s Restaurant, Hector’s, Chicken Fantastic, and Colonial Café). One of his most enduring legacies, however, came in the 2010s when he played a key role in helping preserve dozens of local businesses during the Route 1 and Occoquan Road widening. Gathering over 10,000 signatures, he worked directly with VDOT and community leaders to adjust project designs and protect long-standing family businesses—efforts made quietly, without asking for anything in return.
Dimitri’s leadership shined brightest in hard times. Through recessions and the COVID-19 pandemic, he stood by his tenants, offering support when they needed it most. His office became a place where business owners, local leaders, and even those facing personal hardships would stop by to thank him for his kindness. He never forgot his roots and lived by the simple belief that helping others was life’s greatest achievement.
Beyond his efforts to preserve the past, Dimitri also looked to the future. He was a driving force behind the vision for Riverside Crossing, a transformative development aimed at creating a vibrant town center in Woodbridge, Virginia. While the project is still in its early stages, it stands as a testament to his enduring commitment to building a stronger, more connected community for future generations.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loula Boosalis, his daughter Eleni, and his son George Boosalis, who continues the family legacy.
For over 40 years, Boosalis Properties has remained a cornerstone of Prince William County, committed to serving local businesses and future generations with the same integrity and heart that Dimitri instilled.
