
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) pulled in $4.69 billion in fresh assets Tuesday, despite the broader market declining for a fourth consecutive session, according to etf.com daily fund flows data. SPY’s total assets grew more than 0.7% to $630.2 billion.
Other equity funds saw large inflows, with the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV) adding $749.8 million and the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF Trust (DIA) gaining $651.7 million. DIA’s inflows coincided with the Dow Jones Industrial Average being the only major index to close higher on Tuesday, advancing 0.37%.
On the outflows side, the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) experienced the largest redemptions at $575.7 million as the tech-heavy Nasdaq tumbled 1.4%. Bitcoin-related ETFs also faced selling pressure, with the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) and iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) shedding a combined $405.6 million as bitcoin prices fell below $90,000.
U.S. equity funds dominated asset class flows with $8.3 billion in new assets, while U.S. fixed income attracted $2.6 billion.
International equity ETFs gained $788.1 million, and commodity ETFs added $259.3 million. The ETF industry recorded total net inflows of $11.24 billion for the day.
