U.S. stocks traded higher this morning, with the Dow Jones index gaining around 100 points on Monday.
Following the market opening Monday, the Dow traded up 0.24% to 44,407.91 while the NASDAQ gained 0.89% to 19,696.41. The S&P 500 also rose, gaining, 0.43% to 6,051.88.

Leading and Lagging Sectors
Information technology shares surged by 1.5% on Monday.
In trading on Monday, real estate shares fell by 0.7%.
Top Headline
Shares of McDonald’s Corp MCD gained around 5% on Monday following the release of fourth-quarter results.
The company reported a fourth-quarter sales decline of 0.3% year-on-year to $6.388 billion, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $6.442 billion. Adjusted EPS of $2.83 was in line with the analyst consensus estimate.
Equities Trading UP
- Brand Engagement Network, Inc. BNAI shares shot up 107% to $0.8625.
- Shares of Biodexa Pharmaceuticals Plc BDRXgot a boost, surging 70% to $6.93 after the company announced it received FDA fast-track designation for eRapa.
- Global Star Acquisition, Inc. GLST shares were also up, gaining 58% to $17.32.
Equities Trading DOWN
- Pliant Therapeutics, Inc. PLRX shares dropped 60% to $3.1075. On Friday, Pliant Therapeutics announced it has voluntarily paused enrollment and dosing in the ongoing BEACON-IPF Phase 2b trial of bexotegrast in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic lung disease that causes scarring and stiffening of the lung tissue.
- Shares of FBS Global Limited FBGL were down 33% to $1.2050.
- Semtech Corporation SMTC was down, falling 31% to $37.46 after Needham cut its price target on the stock from $74 to $54.

In commodity news, oil traded up 1.4% to $71.99 while gold traded up 1.5% at $2,931.10.
Silver traded up 0.6% to $32.635 on Monday, while copper rose 2% to $4.6820.
Euro zone
European shares were higher today. The eurozone’s STOXX 600 gained 0.5%, Germany’s DAX 40 rose 0.6% and France’s CAC 40 rose 0.3%. Spain’s IBEX 35 Index rose 0.1%, while London’s FTSE 100 rose 0.8%.
Asia Pacific Markets
Asian markets closed mostly higher on Monday, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 gaining 0.04%, China’s Shanghai Composite Index climbing 0.56%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gaining 1.84% and India’s BSE Sensex falling 0.70%.
